What will it cost me to claim?
We work on a no-win, no-fee basis, if you are not entitled to a tax rebate we will not charge you a fee for processing your claim.
If you are successful we will charge you a fee equivalent to 20%+VAT of any tax refunded. This is to cover our time and expertise processing your claim and liaising with HM Revenue and Customs.
We will deduct our fee from the tax rebate issued to us from HM Revenue and Customs on your behalf before sending the balance on to you.
How long does it take to claim?
The initial claim process should take no longer than 5 minutes for you to complete, simply click on Start my claim fill in all of your personal and employment details and we will send you out a claim form to check, sign and return to us in our freepost envelope.
As soon as we are in receipt of your signed claim form, one of our in-house experts will check the claim form before sending this along with any additional information to HM Revenue and Customs.
HM Revenue and Customs typically take around 4-8 weeks to process the form and issue the rebate.
How much tax am I entitled to claim back?
The amount of tax you are entitled to be refunded depends on a number of factors, including:
- Which tax bracket you fall in?
- How many years you have not claimed for?
- What allowances and expenses you are entitled to claim for?

How do I make a claim?
Simply fill in your personal and employment details on the Start claim form to get your claim underway. This typically takes around 5 minutes to complete.
What documents do I need to send you?
In most cases you will only need to send us the signed claim form but for more complex claims we may need additional information which we will request if necessary.

Can I make a claim for previous years?
You are entitled to make a claim for the previous 4 years providing you haven’t already made a claim and that you are claiming for eligible allowances and expenses.
Do I need to make a separate claim for each year or each employment?
In most cases you only need to complete 1 claim form for all previous years and for all employments.
I’ve received my tax calculation from HM Revenue and Customs but not my refund?
HM Revenue and Customs typically issues your rebate within 28 days of you receiving your tax calculation.

How do I keep track of my claim? And is there a telephone number I can call?
As soon as you submit your claim with Tax Retriever you will be issued with a username and password which will allow you to login and check the status of your claim.
This will allow you to keep right up to date from when we receive your signed claim form, to when it gets sent to HM Revenue and Customs to when your tax rebate gets issued.
We deal with all enquiries and claims through the claims tracker and via email.
How will I get paid from Tax Retriever?
Within 3 days of Tax Retriever receiving cleared funds from HM Revenue and Customs we will issue you with your rebate by way of a cheque.
